Prevention of Ragging

To proactively prevent incidents of ragging within the institution, counting academic departments, hostels, and other areas of the campus, during strategic planning and regular interventions.

Awareness and Sensitization

To organize regular workshops, seminars, orientation programs, and awareness campaigns aimed at refining students, faculty, and staff on the harmful effects of ragging and the significance of mutual respect and inclusivity.

Monitoring and Surveillance

To dynamically monitor campus spaces, hostels, and student activities, identify potential hotspots for ragging, and implement surveillance or defensive strategies as needed.

Support and Counseling

To offer emotional, psychological, and academic support throughout counseling services for students exaggerated by ragging, helping them reintegrate and make progress with confidence.

Promoting a Positive Campus Culture

To cultivate a positive, inclusive, and respectful campus environment by encouraging responsible behavior, peer support, and prompt reporting of any ragging-related incidents

Campus Surveillance and Presence

Ensure that all key areas within the college—such as canteens, parking zones, academic blocks, playgrounds, and common gathering spots—are regularly monitored. Faculty members should be allocated specific zones during critical hours to deter ragging incidents through visible presence.

Monitoring External Locations

Take proactive steps to prevent ragging beyond the campus premises, including at bus stops and public transport boarding points. Appoint trained student volunteers and discreet informers to monitor these areas and report any suspicious activity.

Anti-Ragging Awareness Campaigns

Organize and display awareness materials such as flex boards, posters, banners, and notice boards in and around the college premises, especially in areas prone to student gatherings, to reinforce the anti-ragging message.

Coordination with the Grievance Committee

Collaborate closely with the Grievance Committee to strengthen anti-ragging measures and ensure swift handling of complaints related to ragging incidents.

Awareness Programs and Orientation

Conduct structured awareness programs, meetings, and presentations (PPTs) aimed at sensitizing senior students, faculty, and non-teaching staff about the serious implications of ragging and the collective responsibility to prevent it.

Committee Meetings and Reporting

Hold Anti-Ragging Committee meetings as and when necessary to discuss updates, incidents, or preventive strategies. Keep the Director/Principal informed of any significant developments or urgent matters.

The committee reviewed the anti-ragging mechanisms in place during the previous academic year. It was noted that no formal complaints of ragging were reported. The frameworks proposed by the committee are,

a. Strengthening Awareness:

It was resolved to organize an awareness program during the student induction program. Posters, pamphlets, and circulars will be displayed across the campus.

b. Formation of Squads:

Anti-Ragging Squads will be re-formed to conduct surprise inspections in hostels, canteen, corridors, and other common areas.

C Reporting Mechanism:

A confidential helpline number and complaint box will be maintained. Students were encouraged to report any incident without fear.

d. Hostel Monitoring:

Wardens will maintain strict vigilance in hostels and ensure that new students feel secure and supported.
